The Catalyst first single from A Thousand Suns, the upcoming album from  Linkin Park, arrives Sunday (Aug. 1)and is also in the trailer above for Medal of Honor.  The single will also appear in the soundtrack of the game, due Oct. 12 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PCs in Oct. Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn directed the trailer.

“The song itself has got some dark undertones and it’s got a lot of energy in it,” says Linkin Park drummer David “Phoenix” Farrell. “It kind of just fits with the subject matter.” A Thousand Suns is set to be released Sept. 14.

Harmonix and MTV Games put rumors and speculation to rest at the Comic-Con 2010 “Faux Fun to Real Rock” panel as they revealed that Rock Band 3 players will get to rock out to tracks from Marilyn Manson, Filter, Foreigner, Def Leppard, The B-52’s and Tears For Fears, while those ready to cut up the rug in Dance Central will gain access to favorites from Snoop Dogg, Salt-N- Pepa and Young MC. The Rock Band 3 and Dance Central setlists were a major topic of discussion over the course of the three-day Comic-Con event in San Diego, CA after Harmonix and MTV Games drew thousands of guesses from fans as a result of releasing clues to the announcement through Rock Band’s and Dance Central’s Facebook (www.facebook.com/rockband; www.facebook.com/dancecentralgame) and Twitter (http://twitter.com/rockband; http://twitter.com/dance_central) accounts.

The legendary battle between the AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS rages on as Activision announced today that the Transformers: War for Cybertron Map and Character Pack is available now for download on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.  Based on Hasbro’s iconic TRANSFORMERS brand, the downloadable content pack will include five distinct playable TRANSFORMERS characters and four all-new maps for online multiplayer game modes.

The must-have, quintessential rock music collection keeps getting better as Activision announces two exclusive re-records and a host of new shredable tracks for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.  Singers, songwriters and rock legends Alice Cooper and The Runaways went back into the studio to re-record “No More Mr. Nice Guy” and “Cherry Bomb,” respectively, for fans to rock out to when the game releases this September.

“I AM a Warrior of Rock!  Younger fans getting exposed to true classic rock songs is one of my personal crusades,” said Alice Cooper.  “The new audience listening to the classic songs of today, like “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” will hopefully be inspired to write the classic songs of tomorrow.”
