Over the years I have had my fair share of gaming headsets, ranging from Turtle Beaches to Trittons. When it comes to gaming headsets I’m no virgin. Recently I was given the Astro A40s astro edition to review I was not at all disappointed with the quality of sound the A40s produce.

The Astro A40s are bigger than I expected, at first glance I thought that I would have to keep adjusting them and they would be uncomfortable. I was 90% wrong, never did I have to adjust them and they were surprisingly comfortable, the only problem I experienced was when wearing the Astro A40s for prolonged periods of time the head set would start to irritate me. As far as the design goes the A40s are very stylish the headset was very well made with solid materials and soft comfortable padding I never had a problem with my ears sweating. Never once did I think that the A40s would break if I ever accidently dropped them it’s defiantly built to last. The speaker turn flat for easy transportation and the cable is detachable. Compared to the MadCatz F.R.E.Q. 7 I reviewed earlier the comfort defiantly goes in the F.R.E.Q. 7 favor as I could easily wear those hours on end.

As the sound goes I was completely flabbergasted with how clear and jaw dropping the quality was. Believe me you can hear practically everything as though you are actually in the game. Wearing the A40s made me feel like I was in a battlefield and gave me a closer connection with my character. The mic is 6.0 mm noise canceling, with other mics I am normally asked to speak up because I talk softly so I don’t wake up my family, but with the A40s I could talk very quietly and still have my teammates clearly understand what I am saying. Compared to the F.R.E.Q. 7 the A40s have the slight advantage I was able to hear a little more of what was happening in the background.

The set up for the A40s is literally plug and play it comes with two cables one that you can plug into your MP3/Smartphone and one PC splitter cable that plugs directly into your PC for immediate play it couldn’t be any simpler.

Overall I was very impressed with what I experienced with the A40s. You couldn’t ask for an easier set up with great sound and above average comfort at such a reasonable price. If you’re looking for a great gaming headset then I recommend you check out the Astro A40s you won’t be disappointed.
