Square Enix exhibited its revamped version of Final Fantasy XIV  at the Tokyo Game Show. The new Realm Reborn hopes to atone for its predecessor’s disappointment, by offering updated graphics, a revised combat system and redesigned maps. The Limit Break feature is one such change, similar to the system in Final Fantasy VII, allowing special attacks after filling up a gauge, capable of being used by any party member.
Additional variations to the update include new character sexes, an unobtrusive user interface, and fresh servers. An Xbox 360 version was considered for the original version’s release, but was suspended. Naoki Yoshida, Square Enix developer, had stated that a 360 release was a possibility, but a successful launch was their first priority.  A beta should be arriving this winter, while the MMO’s official release is set to be running on the PS3 and PC in 2013.
