David Jaffe, creator of the God Of War game series, confirmed in an interview a film adaptation based on the games is now officially in production. Writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan have been brought on to tweak writer David Self’s original script of the film. In an interview the pair revealed the focus and confidence of their script; the origins of Kratos.
“In the same way that Batman was grounded with Christopher Nolan’s rendition, we were attempting to do that with Kratos so that when we meet him  like they’re doing in this newest game, which is sort of a prequel to the original  we’re seeing him before he became the Ghost of Sparta, when he was just a Spartan warrior and he had family and kids. With God of War, the studio’s saying, ‘We’re going to spend $150 million to make this movie. We really need to understand this character and get behind him and feel his pain and feel his emotions so that, when he is in these giant set pieces, we’re in there with him and we’re feeling it. ”
It might be too soon for me to say this because obviously the movie is not made yet but i believe the film’s script is in good hands. The reason i have this strong belief is because the pair have played thee games and they have managed to understand and get a feel of the tragic aspect of Kratos’s pain and background that make his entire character what it is.
