That’s right, not MechWarrior 5, this is a complete overhaul of the series. IGN recenty became aware of the game’s reboot currently in production at Smith and Tinker and Piranha games.
This new MechWarrior is set on the planet Deshler in the year 3015, and places players in the role of Adrian Khol, a wayward nobleman who prefers partying and shirking responsibility over his training and studies. However, when House Kurita launches a massive invasion to conquer Deshler, resulting in the death of his entire family, Khol discovers a purpose to fight for.
This however will not be your usual MechWarrior. Developers plan to take full advantage of modern hardware to fully immerse the player in a world where arguments are settled by lazer toting skyscrapers. Unlike previous games where the biggest baddest mech could just barge in and level anything in sight, developers are trying to make every mech feel a bit special, as well as the players who love them. By sticking with your mech class of choice you will see improvements in your handling, accuracy and damage. The game too will adjust to your play style sending similar style mechs ad you to balance out the game. Another improvement is the introduction of UAVs and light scout mechs. giving player the choice of rambling in guns blazing or taking the strategic approach.
hoough no publisher has yet been determined, developers fully plan to include a comprehensive single player campaign, 4-player co-op and online multiplayer.
the game is currently in development for the PC and Xbox 360 console, no release window though.
