Movie News

Todays movie news begins with:

Marvel: Recently announced Joss Whedon was signed on by Marvel to write and direct “The Avengers 2”. Now it seems Joss will stick around with Marvel a bit longer, which is even more awesome!. “Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015. As part of that deal, Whedon will write and direct Marvel’s The Avengers 2 as well as help develop a new live-action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe” – Marvel statement about the contract with Joss.

Jermey Renner on playing Hawkeye: At the end of the day, 90% of the movie, I’m not the character I signed on to play. I’m literally in there for two minutes, and then all of a sudden… All I could really work on was the physical part of it all, because that didn’t change. That was just the biggest challenge to overcome in playing the guy. Also, we’re pretty much introducing a new superhero character to everyone in a movie where there’s a thousand superheroes. So there’s not a lot of back story or understanding we can really tell about who Clint Barton is, or Hawkeye, and is he working for SHIELD or not. There’s a lot of unanswered questions, even for me. And I was OK with that. At least I was still in the movie. And I was glad for that.” said Jeremy Renner. To be honest i was also disappointed in how much screen time hawkeye got, i wanted to see more of him. I hope we get to see more back story and action of him.

Guardians Of The Galaxy: If you dont know the characters on this team, here’s a link to catch up on each of the charatcer to get ready for the film slated for Fall 2014.

Justice League: Reported from Variety, They say that Warner Bros. have approached actor Ben Affleck to direct the DC super hero team film “Justice League”. He is the first to see the script of the film. Since Christopher Nolan is out from making anymore DC film they turned to Ben Affleck. Ben almost directed “The Man Of Steel” before Zack Synder signed on but he lost interest. Here’s what Ben had to say on the subject: “In general, going forward, for me it’s about ‘What movie am I interested in making? What movie do I really connect to?’ If the director isn’t secure enough about it, the movie won’t work. Directing a movie takes a year or two years. You’ve got to love it as much on day 500 as you do on day one other wise it’s not going to work. So, It just means there is a forced judiciousness for me. Even the kind of thing I’d do as an actor for 10 weeks? I could try a character? I can’t do that as a director. I have to be part of a story I want to tell”. I’m a little spectacle about Ben Affleck taking on a huge film like this, Since he appeared in Daredevil which was a box office let down causing a reboot. So i’m eager to see what Ben and Warner plan to do.

The Haunted Mansion:  Guillermo Del Toro has released a update on his highly anticipated live-action take on the classic ride from Disneyland. Recently Disney took down the the films official website. Del Toro was unaware of that happening, Here what he said about the film: “I delivered my last draft five weeks ago. I have a meeting with them in three weeks. I know they like the screenplay. I need to meet with them in three weeks. That’s what I know. I know their reaction to the draft was good. We have a bunch of conceptualist art, but you never know, to predict anything else is hard for me to know.I still would love to make that movie. I came on board originally as a writer and producer, the decision I think they may be waiting, is for me to say I’m directing the movie. Or am I directing it next, which is too early for me to know what I’m doing next in live-action. I’m in the middle of Pacific Rim and I don’t know what I’m going to do next.”

Catching Fire:It seems that Jennifer Lawrence is getting a hefty pay raise, to star in the next highly anticipated film which is set to release next year. In the first film she got $500,00 Plus bonuses, now to star in “Catching Fire” she will be getting a raise to $10 million.

Sin City 2:  The sequel for “Sin City” is set to release on  October 4, 2013, and casting has begun for the film is was revealed that  Mickey Rourke is in negotiations to reprise his role as Marv. This film is titled “A Dame To Kill For” will take place before the events of “Sin City”.

Kung Fu Panda 3: The film set on releasing in 2017, but the studio is taking the film to china to be Chinese co-produced there being the first animated film to do so.

Back To The Future:  Executive producer Frank Marshall was asked if they will start another Back to The Future Film, Here’s what he had to say: “We never talked about it. Those three movies stand alone. I’m so thrilled that [director Robert] Zemeckis is back in the live-action world. When you look at those movies, they’re stunningly made. The direction and the writing in those movies, and Michael J. Fox; it’s just fabulous. I’m a huge fan of just having those three movies just be as they are, and not try to do anything else.”.
