As Sony gets closer to the public release of Playstation Now they have been giving updates to the lucky Beta users. Most recently they put out a 2.0 Beta update. Originally the Beta only included 9 titles. The update now ups the number to 19 but loses some AAA titles. The current list of available games are:
- Shadow of the Colossus
- WipEout HD
- Dead Nation
- PixelJunk Monsters
- Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten
- Dead or Alive 5
- Critter Crunch
- Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond
- Zeno Clash 2
- Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon
- Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
- Rise of the Guardians: The Video Game
- Dead Island
- PAYDAY: The Heist
- Order Up!!
- Alien Rage
- Real Steel
But they have taken out Killzone 3, Puppeteer, MX vs ATV: Alive, Ninja Gaiden 3 and Papo & Yo.
The update has been noted to be only 42MB and all the new games include Trophy support. The full release is rumored for this summer and is supposed to include a much bigger list of games spanning playstation’s history. Rumors are also circulating that PS4 will be able to play PS2 and PSOne games direct from the disc. If all this is true it will be nice for those of us that kept our old favorites. The questions still remain, Will it be a monthly subscription allowing you to play whatever you want, a la Netflix? If so, how much would people be willing to pay for this feature? Onlive served as a good lesson on how this idea can sound good and fail if you don’t have good availability on games and cost yourself out of people’s comfort zone for this kind of service. What would you be willing to pay?
