When I first heard of the Xperia Play thought it was going to be a horrible idea, but when I started seeing pictures of the device, I was somewhat curious and now that I got my hands on it I was sold on the idea of true gaming phones.
First thing you’ll notice is that the phone looks amazing, it’s sleek clean shape, its large enough to have a decent size screen and not too small that you’ll fell like your going to break or lose it.
Looking straight at the phone from its closed position you’ll see the standard return, home, menu and search keys. and on the side you have the volume key and the power button on top.
when you flip the phone to what I call “play mode” you can slide out the game pad in which the phone launches the games menu.
In play mode you have pretty much the standard PlayStation controller layout including two touchpad/joysticks and on top to my surprise surrounding the volume key is a left and right shoulder buttons.
Call Quality/Battery Life:
In standard use calls, messaging, checking emails, lite browsing i found the battery life lasting me about a day. It was when I started playing games is where I found myself killing the battery, which is easy to do with the games on the phone.
Good call quality is the standards nowadays so there’s no difference here everything was clear and crisp even the speaker sounded great.
the 4″ capacitive multi-touch screen looks crisp and really shows off the power of the phone, displaying amazing details ad graphics.
The phone comes stocked with a 5MP camera and a forward facing camera, the phone also allows you to record in 720 HD. I tried some test pictures and video all of which were excellent quality
Probably my only problem with the phone, this phone is pretty heavy it’s not a brick but in comparison to other phones out there its pretty heavy, i myself own a Samsung Focus so i’m feeling the weight carrying it around. But the reason’s for its weight are justified since there’s basically a PlayStation in there.
If you love playing games on your phone then the Xperia Play is a must buy, it has everything that other standard touch phones have plus the luxury of actual game controls. Xperia Play comes with an amazing collection of games, display and camera. and for an added bonus since this is a Sony phone it come with Sony’s earbuds to give you crisp sound weather your playing or on a call.
Xperia Play is a great phone for Sony fanboy or gamers and it even has Minecraft!, I give the Sony Xperia Play a 8 out of 10 , the Xperia Play is available now .
