The Dark Illusion Review

Hello Everyone and welcome back to yet another one of my Yugioh reviews, this time I got the pleasure to review one of the newest sets The Dark Illusion. As Shining Victories is to Blue Eyes, The Dark Illusion is to Dark Magician, and it does not disappoint in the Dark Magician support department. For me personally I have been waiting for Dark Magician support for some time now and this set does wonders for him. There are other arc types coming into the mix like the Triamids, Metalfoes, and SPYRALs. With even more support for Black Wings, performapals, and some toon support as well. There are plenty good cards to talk about in this set, but im just gonna talk about a couple of them.

The first card is one of the most sought after cards in this set for Dark Magician support and that is Dark Magical Circle. Its a secret rare spell card that has the effect, “When this card is activated: Look at the top 3 cards of your Deck, then you can reveal 1 “Dark Magician” or 1 Spell/Trap Card that specifically lists the card “Dark Magician”, among them, and add it to your hand, also place the remaining cards on top of your Deck in any order. If “Dark Magician” is Normal or Special Summoned to your field (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 card your opponent controls; banish it. You can only use each effect of “Dark Magical Circle” once per turn”. So you can essentially get cards to your hand, rearrange the top of your deck and banish cards on the field. I feel like this card is what make the Magician deck so consistent, and its a continuous spell card that can get its second effect many times while its on the field, which is insane. But being a secret rare and an amazing card puts a high price on its head making it a $30 card, but hopefully you are lucky enough to get some in random packs.

The other card I wanted to talk about is Pot of Desires. Its another spell card with kinda an extreme effect, it is, “Banish 10 cards from the top of your Deck, face-down; draw 2 cards. You can only activate 1 “Pot of Desires” per turn”. Now I know banishing 10 cards face down is a bit much but you get to draw 2. There are many views on this card and also many ways you can make this card work. My personal favorite would be to put it in a chaos deck. I love to play chaos dragons and with the help of Necroface, you can get all those banished cards back into your deck and still keep the 2 cards you drew. In addition, you will at least get 1000 point attack boost minimum for it. Like I said, there are several ways to play this card, you just have to find out how.

This set does give the Dark Magician the support he needs to get his place at the top of the Yugioh world. The other decks that this set supports brings them to another tier to compete against these top decks that have been ruling the tournament scene. I enjoyed this set very much and am still hoping to get my hands on some of the Dark Magical Circles to help strengthen my deck to become a top tier player. I hope you all enjoyed my review and as always Happy Dueling.
