One of the hottest game trailers to premiere at this past weekend’s Spike TV Video Game Awards show was Activision Publishing, Inc.’s True Crime, which was produced by Goldtooth Creative Agency.
Working closely with Activision and the development team at United Front Games (UFG), Goldtooth created an intense, action-packed trailer to reveal True Crime to the world and introduce gamers to undercover detective Wei Shen as he infiltrates one of Hong Kong’s notorious Triad crime syndicates.
“We knew we wanted our reveal trailer to be 100% gameplay footage instead of CG to give gamers a real first look at what they’re in for when True Crime comes out in 2010,†said Chris Archer, executive producer at Activision. “Kody Sabourin and his team at Goldtooth did a fantastic job working with the content we provided them to bring our vision to life, and put together an amazing stand out trailer for the VGAs.â€Â
“Creating a solid, memorable trailer like this so early in a game’s dev cycle is extremely hard to pull off, but together with the teams at Activision and UFG, we shot hours of footage packed full with martial arts combat, gunfights, car and motorcycle sequences and chases,†said Kody Sabourin, Creative Director at Goldtooth. “When I walked into UFG’s studio the first thing I saw was this poster of True Crime’s main character Wei ditching his motorcycle into a crowd of thugs and shooting it with a pistol, and I knew right then and there how we should end the trailer!â€Â
Inspired by classic Hollywood and Asian cinema style action thrillers, True Crime is slated for release in Fall 2010. For more information about True Crime or to view the trailer, visit the official game Web site at http://www.truecrime.com.
