Yu-Gi-Oh! Premium Gold: Infinite Gold Review

Hows it going everyone Patrick here doing another Yugioh review for you guys. Thanks to my friends from Konami, they gave me the honor of reviewing one of my favorite series to be released and that is the premium gold series. I was given the opportunity to review their most current set Premium Gold: Infinite Gold. First off im gonna say that I love the gold series. The new cards, the old cards that got reprinted, and even how they look in their gold print technology. For infinite gold I had liked many cards from each of those categories, like a bunch of hard to get reprints like Kozmo Dark Destroyer and Ghost Ogre Snow Rabbit, to the YCS prize card Number 106: Giant Hand, and even brand new cards that impacted the game greatly like Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal. Those were only four of the big card to come out of this set and they are a ton more that makes this set worth it to get. Now I want to cover a couple of new cards from this set and give my opinion on them and how it could impact the game.

First off I want to talk about is Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy. This a rank 8 monster with 3000 atk and 2500 def with an amazing effect which says, “Once per turn, during either player’s turn, when a Spell Card or effect is activated on the field: You can negate that effect, and if you do, attach that card to this card as Xyz Material. When an opponent’s monster declares an attack: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; change the attack target to this card and perform damage calculation. If a face-up Xyz Monster(s) you control is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can target 1 face-up Xyz Monster you control; it gains ATK equal to 1 of those destroyed monster’s original ATK”. So this card can negate a spell or effect once per turn and use that as material, then it is able to switch attacks over to it to protect your other cards, and then if another Xyz is destroyed, you can use the attack of that monster and put it on itself. This card is a force to reckon with and if paired with cards like royal decree and other cards that can protect it, then your opponent is going to have a very tough time dealing with this card. I am testing out Number 38 in my gimmick puppet deck and so far I is going very well. Gimmick puppets give you easy access to level 8 monsters and all you have to do is just protect it then 38 does the rest. I am planning to try it out I some other decks but so far I think Gimmick Puppets are the best way to go. I know this card will see play especially with all the new Blue Eyes support coming out in Shining Victories, thus giving access to level 8 monster very easily.

The next card I wanted to talk about is non other then Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal. Beatrice is a rank 6 with 2600 atk and 2800 def with an amazing effect that says, “You can also Xyz Summon this card by sending 1 “Burning Abyss” monster from your hand to the Graveyard, then using 1 “Dante” monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If Summoned this way, the following effect cannot be activated this turn. Once per turn, during either player’s turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; send 1 card from your Deck to the Graveyard. If this card in your possession is destroyed by your opponent’s card (by battle or card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 “Burning Abyss” monster from your Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions”. Beatrice brought life back to the Burning Abyss arc type giving them the help they needed to compete with the top tier decks like kozmos and Pepe. I have had many fun moments with Beatrice, using the foolish burial effect to drop cards like Farfa to get rid of problematic cards for a turn or Barbar to push for game when my opponent is very low in life points. Beatrice gives you a bunch of possibilities to deal with certain situations and what makes it better is the fact that the opponent will have to still deal with the aftermath of her destruction by facing off against Dante or Virgil depending on the situation of course. I am obviously using this card in my BA deck, but that doesn’t mean its only limited to that deck. It can be used in any deck that runs rank 6s or a deck that runs a couple BA and a Dante in it, the choice is yours if you want to give it a shot in your deck if you think that this card will ultimately help you out in the end. Recently BA have been topping YCS, so its safe to say that Beatrice has made an impact in the tournament world of Yugioh.

Like I said before there are a bunch of amazing cards in this set and the 2 I decided to talk about were among the best new cards that I know will have an impact in the community. I highly recommend giving this set a try, it has a ton of staples, good reprints for decks players wanted to try, but couldn’t afford and a lot of new cards that can help you step up your game. Each case comes with 5 mini boxes, each mini box has 3 packs and in each pack comes 5 cards, 2 gold secret and 3 gold super. I am currently purchasing my third case to get a lot more staples for my decks and to hopefully get the rest of the Kozmos to try that deck out. I hoped that this review helped with your decision of purchasing this set and as always Happy Dueling.
